In 2018, Center for Digital Society aims to widen its collaborative research horizons by inviting early career scholars to conduct research related to the digital society issues. We are looking to work with scholars from all disciplines to take part in our research environment in Yogyakarta, Indonesia for a period of 3 months.


  • Applicants are opened to early career researchers (non-Indonesian nationality) who have received their Master degree in relevant studies.
  • Fluency in English


  1. Conduct a research related to the given topics
  2. Contribute to CfDS collective research and academic activities (discussion, dissemination, etc)

Our general theme would be related to our annual themes that are Digital Economy, Digital Governance, and Future Technology.

Preference will be given to candidates who are planning or can work on research projects associated with one or more of the following topics:

 Please submit one original and one copy of a complete application consisting of the following:

  1. Cover letter (1 page)
  2. Research Statement (elaborating on what you think are the key questions to be examined regarding digital society for the next 2-3 years; 300-500 words)
  3. Research Plan (for one project; the plan should address the research question, methodology, and timeline for 3 months; 1 page each, 1.5-spaced)
  4. Curriculum vitae
  5. Official transcript of grades and certified proof of Master degree

Qualification for acceptance

By the end of the application process, CfDS will disclose the grading and decision which were made by our board of directors. The results would be the following:

  1. 91-100: Comprehensive research plan, strong research statement, supported by relevant experience.
  2. 81-90: Good research plan, clear research statement, and supported by experience in doing research.
  3. 71-80: Qualified research plan, satisfying research statement, and supported by studying experience.
  4. 70<: unqualified
