CfDS FISIPOL UGM is Nominated for WSIS Prize 2019

Center for Digital Society (CfDS) Fisipol UGM for the second time is on the list of nominations for World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Prize 2019. WSIS Prize 2019 is an annual award held by International Telecommunication Union (ITU)-institution under United Nations in the field of telecommunication. WSIS is held to appreciate the effort from various sector in developing society through ICT in order to achieve the target of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) in 2030. In 2019, two programs of CfDS UGM are being nominated in two different categories, the first program called Multi Approach Digital Literacy Program is in the category 4, and the second, Digital Intelligence Lab is in the category 9.

These two programs are the prime programs of CfDS.  CfDS FISIPOL together with other various stakeholders are continuing the agenda of digital literacy in the society through trainings, seminars, publications, and also content of social media. For example, in 2018, CfDS has held 27 events that reached more than 3400 participants. Moreover the Digital Intelligence Lab is CfDS’s program to utilize artificial intelligence platform and big data in supporting contemporary researches that is expected to contribute in solving problem of digital society in Indonesia.

During this time the process of WSIS Prize 2019 nomination is getting into the open voting stage until February 18th 2019. Related to that, she hopes people in Indonesia will support the programs of CfDS that are being nominated. The contribution of voting can be done by visiting the link CfDS FISIPOL UGM would like to thank all netizens who had supported us and other initiatives from Indonesia in the WSIS 2018. This time we build upon the support for the WSIS 2019.

Besides two programs from CfDS UGM, there are 20 other initiatives from Indonesia which are being nominated for this WSIS Prize spread into 9 different categories, some of the examples are Digital Talent Scholarship, Banyuwangi Regency “Smart Kampung”, Gerakan Nasional Literasi Digital Siberkreasi, Go-Ride, and many others. We hope Indonesians will also support the best initiatives from our country in WSIS 2019, so that the nominators from Indonesia would be the champion in every category then could be winner in this annual event.
