[PRESS RELEASE] CfDS and Campus Fryslân Take Part in Enhancing the Quality of SPBE in Indonesia by Visiting Diskominfo DIY

Digital transformation in the context of the government system (SPBE) still needs to be worked on to be fully realized by the government in Indonesia. Discussions related to the concept of e-government, cyber security, and its infrastructure need to be optimally supported by all stakeholders. Through “OKP Cybersecurity Guest Lecture Series”, CfDS in collaboration with Dr. Oskar Josef Gstrein (Assistant Professor at the Department of Governance and Innovation of Campus Fryslân) visited the Ministry of Communication and Information in Yogyakarta to discuss the pace of development of the digitization of the Indonesian government system at the regional level.

The visit, which was held on Friday (28/10), discussed the extent to which the Indonesian government, particularly at the Special Region of Yogyakarta level, had adopted an electronic-based government system. The Diskominfo in DIY admits that the SPBE concept has been implemented in its government ecosystem, but has not run optimally.

“We still use a third party to digitalize our government system. This makes us not have full control in the utilization and operation of the system,” said Dr. Sayuri Egaravanda, S.Kom, M.Eng as Head of Information Security and Encryption.

This shows that the infrastructure owned by Indonesian related to SPBE is not fully adequate. In response to this, Dr. Oskar Josef Gstrein enriched the discussion session by telling the important aspects to realize SPBE in Indonesia, including the importance of cybersecurity, user data protection, and infrastructure standardization.

The visit was a form of collaboration between CfDS, Orange Knowledge Program (OKP), and Diskominfo in supporting the implementation of e-government in Indonesia. The Orange Knowledge Program is a development program at the global level under the auspices of the Dutch government. OKP aims to provide education and empowering individuals, groups or communities in society. In this case, CfDS and Campus Fryslân, through the TMT+ program, for two years have been routinely discussing topics related to digital issues that are currently developing in society, such as cybersecurity and digital society.
