Yogyakarta, July 24th, 2020 - The existence of the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced teaching and learning activities, especially the use of the internet for online educational activities. Teachers are 'challenged' to create interesting and interactive learning methods, while ensuring that the presented materials can be well understood by students. Inviting Umar Abdul Aziz from Quizizz Indonesia, Center for Digital Society (CfDS) held the 29th series of Difussion that raised the issue of interesting and interactive online learning platform. The event was held on Friday (7/25), through Google Meet and it was broadcasted live via YouTube.

Technological Innovation as an Alternative Form of Online Learning

Lack of student’s attention to the material delivered by the teacher is still a major obstacle in the implementation of online learning activities. This is often caused by the delivery of learning that tends to be monotonous, and lack of interaction with students, other than in the form of question and answer activities. To overcome this, technological innovation is seen as one of the important aspects in creating effective and efficient online learning methods, both for teachers and students.

Umar introduced Quizizz Indonesia, a platform that facilitates teaching staff to deliver material through various resources of question bank, games and interactive presentations. Storing more than one million questions on various topics, education staff can find reference questions to give, simply by searching the topic keywords on the Quizziz platform. In addition, teaching staff can also easily create questions and include features such as pictures and videos. Wrapped with gamification, students are expected to be able to work on problems without feeling bored through Quizziz. Interactive presentations are Quizizz's latest breakthrough that allows teachers to make presentations with several features, such as inserting videos from YouTube, short surveys, and creating questions in the middle of a presentation. "These features are expected to help students be able to stay focused on the material presented online," said Umar. Quizizz has also been integrated with the Google Classroom application, making it easier for teachers to monitor the learning process and scores achieved by the students.
